Can't wait for this conference! Nothing like a good professional conference for rejuvenation and renewal . . . and this one I can attend at home! No air travel, hotels, restaurant meals (that may or may not be gluten- and dairy - free). Nope, I get to attend this conference on my iPad wherever I choose. Really looking forward to hearing from music therapy experts from around the world

I stopped in to my neighborhood office supply store and wrote a check for some printer paper and ink cartridges and the young woman at the cash register read my check and said, "Music therapy -- that sounds cool!" So what could I do? I had to tell her all about it!

At the Free Clinic Holiday Ball last night, I had the pleasure and privilege to sit at a table of wonderful, caring people who got to hear all about music therapy. It was a great night of dinner, dancing and fundraising for the Free Clinic (they offer free medical care to those in our community who are uninsured or underinsured. Thanks to all the doctors, PAs, nurses, pharmacists and others who donate their time to this worthy cause!

Today I met with a lovely high school student who interviewed me for her senior project. She is interested in becoming an MT-BC, so it was so nice to chat with a young person with such excitement and passion for the field. Before she got to Starbuck's for our meeting, the gentleman sitting at an adjacent area asked me, "So what's UpBeat?" I always wear my name tag and some great conversations about music therapy have come of this practice. He said, "Wow, that's cool!" The third person today was a person doing some plumbing at my house -- we are replacing a worn-out tub/shower in my daughters' bath with a brand new one . . . he asked, "What do you do?" So I told him!
