My friend Susie listened to my music therapy speech this afternoon and shared her interest in horticulture therapy. Is there a future for us to work together at some point?

I dropped by the lovely Waterford today and spoke with CarolAnn and Caitlin. We had a great conversation about music therapy and how it might be applied at their facility. I also talked with Jason, a chaplain working in hospice and shared with him current research about MT and the wonderful work that can be done for patients and their families. Yesterday, Pat got to hear about music therapy over lunch at Olive Garden.

Today I spoke with the wonderful educators at a beautiful Montessori school about music and early childhood. Thanks to Julie, Ryan and Michelle for your participation and feedback. We talked about Anne Green Gilbert's Brain Dance and worked our way through the 8 fundamental movement patterns to recorded and live music. We also played tone chimes, Reverie harp and egg shakers. My next project for the school is to write them a special song about their school.

UpBeat Music Therapy in Sunday's Columbian
New business news
• UpBeat Music Therapy Services has opened in Vancouver. It is the only music therapy service in Clark County. The company was established by longtime resident Anne Vitort, a former Kindermusik educator. Vitort says music therapists design musical experiences to help clients achieve non-musical goals, such as physical, emotional, cognitive, communication or social goals. No musical experience is necessary for a client to benefit from music’s power to heal. http://www.upbeat musictherapist.com, 360-607-8187 or http://www.music therapy.org.See page E2 in the paper version ~

Talked to Sharon and Karen yesterday about music therapy. We attended the ribbon cutting for a wonderful adult day center in Vancouver. I also talked to Gloria, who owns Rainy Creek Boutique in the Vancouver Market Place downtown Vancouver, WA. The shop is adorable and I couldn't help myself when I saw two framed floral pictures for my kitchen. Check out her shop!
